Business 1: If I pay for 100% of my college education, would I be better off if my parents will give me a college graduation present: half of the money they presently plan to pay for my college costs?

I take this question as either I pay for college or have my parents help me pay off all the college expenses, tuition, etc.

I would rather have my parents help me a little bit. as of now I am not making income at the moment. When it comes time that I start living on my own, It will be hard for me to get all the necessary money I need for tuition and other expenses.  According to Gary North’s approach to college, it is possible, through CLEP exams and extra credit, to get through college for $15,000 dollars or less, and to finish in a couple of years. This would work for most college degrees, but not all of them. Either way, I would choose to have a graduation present. I can’t see a good enough reason to refuse it. If I have to pay completely either way, then I’d obviously want to receive the additional money after college.

A lot depends on amount of money that was planed to be given, if you have always had to plan to pay for college then there might not be any money offered. Think about it your parents raised you and worked hard for you so do you want to take the money? This question isn’t suited for many but in normal cases this question applies. This money could be used to pay rent and food and can be lived off of until a job is found or something else comes up. It has the potential to help quite a bit with living and school and could serve as a good cushion in times of need. These are all useful but money is not always spent in responsible ways sadly.

As of now, I am not sure what I plan to do regarding college. If I do get a degree, I will give it my all to get it as fast and affordable as possible. If I pay for 100% of my college education, and then get finished a year early, I will have a good financial situation for myself.  Not only will I have an early start to the job market, but I will also have no student loans.  I will be able to invest in a house, and focus on my career. This is a much better route financially. By taking this easier route, and by taking advantage of opportunity of some parental help I can easily avoid the student loan stress and other debts.

If I had a good paying part-time job maybe I wouldn’t need parents help. When I do things by myself I feel like I already have all the necessary needs to pay off for tuition/other expenses. I like how the responsibility is on me in this case. You are more diligent in regards to your work if it’s your money at risk. I know I’m a better worker if I’m paying for myself.

THANKS for reading this essay I hope you learned a little about my thoughts of college payment by using or not using parental help. I’ll post more soon and have a great day!
