The miracles in the books of gospels of mark, luke, john, and etc were very crucial in the early ministries of Jesus because not only were the acts of miracles divine, but they taught the importance of how great is the sin and the how great the cure for the sin is. Let me explain couple examples of these miracle to help you understand what I’m talking about.
For example, the famous miracle that Jesus presented was whenever he called over Peter to walk on water with him. The reason Jesus did this was definitely not to show off what God was capable of, but he did this to test and see how great our faith was. Jesus easily did this because his faith for the Lord is beyond all measures. Whenever he called Peter out to come towards him, he obeyed. As Peter was walking, he sees the winds and waters making all these sounds and he slowly began to lose what he started out with, which was faith. When Peter was drowning Jesus asked, “why do you have so little faith?” At that moment we can all understand the message very clear. The very moment you lose faith, you instantly lose that connection you’ve just had with God. That’s why Jesus performed this miracle, to show us what’s it like to someone who has faith and what’s it like for someone who doesnt have faith.
Another miracle that Jesus performed was, again another example of faith, when Jesus and his disciples were on a boat, there came a storm. After couple attempts, the disciples managed to wake Jesus up and when they did Jesus turned to them asking, “Why are you afraid? Don’t you know that by believing in the lord, he will provide what needs to be provided?” The disciples just stood there while Jesus calmed the storm down. They understood that by having that much faith, things can be done according to God’s will. If you ask, he will give. So that was another example of a performed miracle that explains the importance of having bigger faith.
An example of a miracle that’s been performed by Jesus that explains the importance of appreciation. Whenever there were crowds of people that have come to hear Jesus preaching, the disciples told Jesus that it was time to feed them, but they didn’t have food. A boy came up to Jesus and said that he only had five loaves of bread and two fish. Jesus spoke to the disciples to have people seated and have them bring the food they had. After a quick prayer Jesus told the disciples to give them out to everyone. Everyone ate and were satisfied. Not only were they feeling full, they also had baskets of leftover food! That’s the story of how Jesus took care of 5 thousand people during that day. This story shows us that we need to be appreciative for every little thing we have in life. Give the credit and thanks to the Lord at all times whenever possible.
