English 3 Lesson 15: Was More risking persecution by the church because of this book?

In my opinion More was definitely risking by writing this book. We believe that ideas written in this book Utopia, were some of his viewpoints in life and the government structure, to which many disagreed with. Thomas More structured his story so that all the people were happy and satisfied to continue living and do all for the good of the public instead of their own.

Thomas More was an English philosopher during the 15th to 16th century. We know Thomas More to be a devout believer in God: he learned many monastic practices and held to them as part of his faith. During the coming years of his life, he was chancellor of England until getting on King Henry’s bad side, which, unfortunately, ended up getting executed.
