Economics Lesson 10: If you were flying across country, would you rather sit in first class, or would you rather your parents gave you the difference between the first-class fare and the coach fare?

If I were to fly across the country and had to choose between first class and coach fare, I’d rather have my parents explain the difference between the 2 things first. I’m pretty much a minimalistic person in general, so even if I didn’t listen to my parents’ explanation, I would’ve still chosen the lower class option.

Consider this: unless you are a millionaire or some rich person, why would you waste more money on a fancier, comfortable, ride, when you have paid for the ticket already. Also, not to mention the additional expenses you might attend to once you’ve arrived. For example, things like souvenirs, hotel, food, taxi, etc. whatever the case may be, you are to expect to spend on something. If you’re visiting a family or relative in a different country, then good for you, for you don’t have to spend so much as I’m sure your family would be happy to provide! However, regardless of the charity your family provides for you, you have to take into consideration that there’s some expenses that you might need to do in addition to the free stay in that country.

Now that you’ve considered this information, let’s also consider that you’re only traveling for a certain amount of time ’till you’ve arrived at your destination. It’s basically the same as traveling across the state of America in an automobile (which by the way takes about 3 days). I personally have only traveled in faraway places with an automobile and trust me on this It’s not as bad as y’all think.πŸ˜‰ As for travelling in planes, yes it might be a little squished, but on the bright side you can communicate with people, mind your own business and listen/watch/read something as I’m sure other people will respect your privacy and are very friendly individuals. If you don’t like being squished, talking to people, or loud noises I understand completely and if you wish to get first class simply for that reason, I’m not gonna judge, I’d do the same thing if that were the case with me. However I do love people, and I am pretty patient understanding passengers with kids (not so easy keeping them calm), and I don’t mind being squished because the seats are designed as is and I just choose to put up with it. It’s all a temporary ride anyway and I personally wouldn’t need first class.

  1. This essay is great! Seriously though, it is. πŸ™‚ In my opinion, I think this topic is definitely one to ponder about. I see both sides of the spectrum. Why someone would choose 1st class, and why someone wouldn’t. I really liked how you gave both options consideration in your essay, and how you discussed your opinion about them thoroughly. I find it interesting that you wouldn’t travel in 1st class, and would prefer to stay with the people. Also- the part about traveling in a car for 3 days was perfect! I agree with you, it really isn’t that bad. I mean, you get crumbs absolutely EVERYWHERE, to the point where they could take over. πŸ™ƒ Yet, that’s the car love for ya. Overall, this was a great read, and I can’t wait to see what that surprise post will be! 😁
