English 1: What were Washington’s arguments against the slave system?

Image result for slave system

What were Washington’s thoughts about the slave system, hmm, lets think about this. If he was a slave at a young age and grew up knowing that life is really rough on them because of who they were. Wealthy gentlemen who own big plantations decide to have slaves work for him and to treat them as working dogs. Isn’t that so terrible, to be treated horribly, just because they have a different color? Well, guys, during that time people were so “smart” to think that “oh you look different than us and that just means we have more power over you worthless beings” That’s, first of all, really offensive but they gave no crap over that and also started doing things that were just insanely unbearable for them. So I bet you all, that Washington’s thoughts about this, is 100% horrific! For someone to grow up through all this trouble and finally getting out of slavery, later on in the years, I’d say that would be expected of him in saying so.

Of course he would say something horrible about slavery and it’s system because he went through all that! This is totally relate able to anyone who has gone through something terrible and then spit out the sad truth about it. Not only the slavery was terrible because of what they had to go through, but they also weren’t allowed to receive education! Nowadays kids complain about things like; “school sucks, it’s boring, or it’s use less” but kids back then only hungered for education. If they would have had some sort of learning system, they would be glad/thankful more than anything and anyone in the world. Let’s get back to the reason education wasn’t allowed for the colored people back then. Just think about what education gives, it gives knowledge, understanding, thinking ahead, and etc. and if the colored people were to learn this knowledge they could outsmart the wealthy people and to those who treat them poorly. Just because of the education, the colored people would have gotten out of their problems and live freely. So of course, the american people were quite smart about this and made sure that the colored people didn’t receive education of any kind. After the slavery, continues the story of Washington and how he taught everyone in his hometown the education that he received.

How did he get this knowledge? Read the book about Booker T. Washington if you haven’t read it yet. This book is really amazing and it’s totally inspiring me as I continue to read each chapter. I guarantee you this book will inspire you as well as it inspires me. Hope you enjoyed my essay today, as always THANKS for reading it! Have a great rest of your day! 😊😇

  1. Nice job!
(you’re talking about George Washington right. Lol)

I got lost at this point, I can’t seem to make sense of it:

If he was a slave at a young age and grew up knowing that life is really rough on them because of who they were. Wealthy gentlemen who own big plantations decide to have slaves work for him and to treat them as working dogs.

I also noticed a punctuation error:

Well, guys, during that time people were so “smart” to think that “oh you look different than us and that just means we have more power over you worthless beings” (<- Should be a period there)

    Other than that, nice job.
