Western Civ 2 Lesson 160: In what senses was the world a dangerous place in the 1960s and 1970s?

A lot of things occurred during this time such as; Women, African Americans, Native Americans, Sexual revolution, and other marginalized people continued their fight for equality.

In some ways, though, 1960s liberalism continued to flourish. For example, the crusade to protect the environment from all sorts of assaults–toxic industrial waste in places like Love Canal, New York; dangerous meltdowns at nuclear power plants such as the one at 3-mile island in Pennsylvania. The oil crisis of the late 1970s drew further attention to the issue of conservation. Americans first celebrated Earth day in 1970 and The Clean Air Act/Clean Water Act followed 2 years later.

The hippies often had a point: middle class society, the cold war, the drug industry corporate culture was something to protest about and so was the vietnam war.
